TELEVISION SPOTS

Education Now and Babies Later

(ENABL)

The ENABL spots were created to encourage parents to begin a dialog with their children about sex at an early age, as well as to encourage twelve to fifteen year-olds to postpone sexual involvement. This multifaceted media campaign included billboards, posters and public service announcements for both television and radio.

The billboards aimed at parents featured black and white portraits of teens with the tag line: "Lots of people are talking to your kids about sex. You should be one of them." Two 30 second television spots were beautifully shot on 16mm film at a number of locations around the Twin Cities and feature the talents of over 20 actors. There were also two rock'n radio spots with teen voices and original music. The campaign began in the fall of ¹98. It has been so successful that its run was extended for another year.

Science Museum of Minnesota

(Experiment Gallery)

This 30 second spot was designed to appeal to a teenage population. The video was shot hand-held with quick action and used both color and black and white shots. This effect dramatically appealed to the intended audience. Intermixed were sequences from the museum and high school kids giving cool quips about the exhibit.
