It will go beyond the dry statistics that characterize the reporting of manure spills, and get to the human and ecological stories.

Houses In The Fields is a provocative video that documents the plight of farmers in Minnesota who suffer from urban encroachment. The program speaks to both urban and rural residents about what is at stake. Our relationship to food and its origins become murky, as farm land becomes less and less visible. Children will assume that food comes in a box off a shelf and people will forget the taste of sweet corn, fresh picked that day. Also lost, is the spiritual connection to the land itself. The creative treatment includes poetry and song that inspires one to contemplate the finality of fields gone the way of bull-dozers and blacktop.

Out of the Mud profiles more than a dozen original productions created by In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this tape producer/director Will Hommeyer captures the spirit of this anything but ordinary theatre group by interweaving performance footage with interview segments of some of the principle artists who have been part of the Theatre's history. Created to augment a major retrospective exhibition of In the Heart of the Beast's work at the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota this video is a dynamic portrayal that follows the winding, often unmapped course of twenty-five years of this community-based theatre.
